Sam Lapidus Montclair Run: Race Returns For 43rd Year
Now in its 43rd year, the Sam Lapidus Montclair Run on Thanksgiving has been a staple in the running community in Birmingham.
MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — In what has become a staple in the Birmingham running community, the Sam Lapidus Montclair Run will take place for the 43rd year Thanksgiving day. The run starts at the Levite Jewish Community Center.
The event took on Lapidus' name in 2009 after he died of Ewing’s sarcoma, a form of childhood cancer, in November 2008 – just nine days before his 15th birthday. Funds raised from the run will be donated to the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s of Alabama and the Levite Jewish Community Center.
