Spartans Capture State Volleyball Title
Mountain Brook won the 7A AHSAA championship Thursday to cap off a dominant season.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Mountain Brook 's volleyball team captured the state championship Thursday at Bill Harris Arena, defeating McGill-Toolen 3-0. The victory was the Spartans' fourth state title.
The win also ended McGill-Toolen's two-year championship reign .
Mountain Brook took the first set 25-21 During the second set, Mountain Brook led 24-20, but McGill-Toolen rallied to take a lead and force overtime. The Spartans then won 28-26.

The third set saw the lead change multiple times, with Mountain Brook down at one time 18-15. The Spartans were able to rally and close out the match 25-23.
Grace Carr led Mountain Brook with 14 kills and 19 digs, MK Fowlkes added 10 kills, Ann Vandevelde had 33 assists and eight kills, and Celie Field had eight kills and eight digs.

Fowlkes, Vandevelde and Carr were named to the All-Tournament team for the Spartans, with Carr being named MVP.
