Spartans Enter National Top 5 After Area Championship
After defeating Vestavia for the area championship over the weekend, Mountain Brook climbed into the national Top 5.
MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - Beating your rival school is reason to celebrate. Beating your rival school in the championship is even more reason to celebrate. Mountain Brook's boys basketball team was able to do plenty of celebrating over the weekend as the Spartans stomped Vestavia Hills 63-36 in the Area Tournament finals at Spartan Arena. The win not only gave the Spartans an area championship, but it also propelled Mountain Brook into the top 5 nationally.
Mountain Brook entered the week ranked No. 5 in the USA Today Super 25 Basketball Poll, as the Spartans prepare for the AHSAA Class 7A tournament.

Mountain Brook will take on James Clemens this Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Class 7A Northwest Regional semifinals at Wallace State Community College.
The Spartans look to capture their third straight state championship, and their fifth in seven seasons.
