Spartans Enter Weekend Action As A Top 10 Team
Mountain Brook cracked the Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings for the first time this season as the Spartans head into Week 3.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - Mountain Brook heads into the weekend ranked in the Alabama Sports Writers Association's Top 10 for the first time this season, as the Spartans will face Tuscaloosa County Friday night. Mountain Brook is 2-0 with convincing wins over Northridge (30-14) and Center Point (43-0).
The latest ASWA poll has the Spartans ranked No. 9, and has a new No. 1 in 7A, as Thompson swapped places with Hoover - although that may change when the Warriors face the Bucs this weekend. Mountain Brook has been able to use a strong defense and powerful offense to notch its two victories thus far, as sophomore signal-caller Strother Gibbs has been on fire, accounting for six touchdowns in the season so far.
