Spartans Fall To 7th In Latest ASWA Poll
A loss to Thompson last weekend dropped Mountain Brook out of the top 5 in the latest 7A poll.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - After breaking into the Alabama Sports Writers Association top 5 last week, Mountain Brook dropped to 7th in the latest poll after a loss to Thompson Friday night. The loss was the Spartans' first of the season, with fourth-ranked Hoover next up on the schedule.
Mountain Brook answered Thompson's first score with a touchdown of its own by Sam Higgins, but after that, the game belonged to Thompson, as the Warriors racked up 24 unanswered points to win 31-7.
Although the Spartans held Thompson's dazzling quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa in check through the air, it was the Warriors' running game that did the damage, as running back Shadrick Byrd scored three rushing touchdowns and amassed 110 yards.
