Spartans Open Season Friday Against Gulf Shores
The Mountain Brook Spartans look to start the season strong as they host Gulf Shores High School Friday night.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - The Mountain Brook Spartans begin the 2017 high school football season hosting Gulf Shores High School, and look to make a strong statement to set the tone for their season. While the team lost a significant amount of leadership and experience with the last graduating class, some key contributors from the 2016 season are back.
Most notably, Spartan QB Hamp Sisson, who has already been offered scholarships to play on Saturdays next season, is back as the starting signal-caller, and running back Harold Joiner will again line up behind Sisson in the backfield. Joiner is listed among the top high school football players in the state. Also looking to contribute significantly are RB A.J. Gates, H-back Clay Stearns and receiver Wilson Higgins. Linemen Will Corothers, Zach Morris and Anderson Tomlin are also players to watch. On defense, linebackers Colton Yeager and Avery Schelske look to build on the momentum with which the Spartans defense ended last season.

Mountain Brook defeated Gulf Shores last year 56-6.
