Spartans Repeat As Region Champs, Head To Final 4

HANCEVILLE, AL — Mountain Brook survived a scare by Spain Park Tuesday to repeat as regional champion and advance to the Final Four in Birmingham. The Spartans squeaked out a 41-34 victory over the Jags, who led most of the game.

Spain Park finished each of the first two quarters ahead, leading 12-7 after the first and 20-17 at the half. Mountain Brook led 29-28 after three quarters and clung to a 1-point lead with under three minutes to play.

Colby Jones led all Spartan scorers with 17 points.

With the win, the Spartans reach the Final Four for the seventh time in the last eight seasons, and will play the semifinals on Feb. 27.
