Spartans Sit Atop Class 6A Poll

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its most recent high school football poll and Mountain Brook is ranked No. 1 in Class 6A. The Spartans open their season Friday against Huntsville.

The Spartans were ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll, but a loss by Oxford last week bumped Mountain Brook to the top spot.

The Spartans are playing in Class 6A this season after spending the last several season in Class 7A, and the new classification has them earning high expectations from sports writers.

The 6A top 10 looks like this:

Mountain Brook released its safety guidelines for the season Tuesday, which includes a reduced seating capacity.
