BIRMINGHAM, AL - Sometimes, the term "dynasty" gets thrown around nonchalantly, almost to the point of cliche. But what Mountain Brook High School has built with its boys basketball program is nothing short of a dynasty. The Spartans defeated Baker High School 61-42 Saturday to capture their third consecutive state championship, and their fifth in the last seven seasons. That, by all intents and purposes, is certainly a dynasty.

Fittingly, Mountain Brook star forward Trendon Watford put an exclamation point on a legendary high school basketball career by leading the Spartans with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Lior Berman added 19 points and eight rebounds for Mountain Brook, and Colby Jones had 10 points.
