Top-Ranked Spartan Volleyball Team Starts State Tournament
Mountain Brook brings its 55-7 record into the AHSAA State Volleyball Tournament this week.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Take one look at the Alabama High School Athletic Association volleyball scores over the past week, and it is apparent that Mountain Brook's team just keeps on winning. The state's top-ranked volleyball team takes a 55-7 record into this week's state tournament.
The first two rounds of the state tournament are at the Birmingham Crossplex, and then the finals are at Bill Harris Arena.
The Spartans open the tournament against Auburn.

First-round Pairings:
S-4: Auburn (38-18) vs. N-1: Mountain Brook (55-7), Wed., 9:30 a.m.
N-3: Hoover (32-14) vs. S-2: Enterprise (32-14), Wed., 9:30 a.m.
N-4: Thompson (32-16) vs. S-1: McGill-Toolen Catholic (37-9), Wed., 11 a.m.
S-3: Baker (no record provided) vs. N-2: Bob Jones (32-14), Wed., 11 a.m.

Mountain Brook has enjoyed a phenomenal year, and solidified its standing among the best ion the state this past weekend at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville. Mountain Brook swept James Clemens (25-12, 25-14, 25-10) Friday to lock up a state tournament berth. Saturday, the Spartans beat Hoover (25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 25-8) and Bob Jones (25-13, 25-13, 25-16) to lock up a top seed in this week's tournament.
