Volunteers Set To Clean Lake Martin Nov 1-2

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Alabama Power's Renew Our Rivers initiative will go to Lake Martin this weekend for a clean-up project. This is the last cleanup of more than 30 scheduled this year on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.

Volunteers should report to one of the following locations at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday:

  • Wind Creek State Park Marina
  • Kowaliga Boat Ramp
  • Union Boat Ramp

Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Minors must have a chaperone to participate. The cleanup will end at noon.

The Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by Alabama Power, the Lake Martin Resource Association, Russell Land Corp., Advanced Disposal, TowBoatU.S. Lake Martin and Wind Creek State Park.

Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected more than 15.5 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000.
