Two hotels, massive indoor sports facility proposed for Northport Shore development (abc3340.com) — Northport officials are weighing the sale of two city-owned parcels at Northport Shore to build a family-focused hotel, a luxury hotel, and a 100,000-square-foot indoor sports facility. The council has only held first readings so far, with a public hearing and final vote expected Sept. 21, giving residents a chance to weigh in on how this project could reshape local tourism and recreation. 
2. Northport moves forward with new City Hall, approves land purchase and seeks more property (abc3340.com) — Northport leaders just approved buying about 1.9 acres between Lurleen Wallace Boulevard, Bridge Avenue, and 10th Street as the proposed site for a new City Hall. The council also authorized negotiations for more nearby parcels, though final land costs, construction price, and a project timeline remain undecided and will require additional public votes before any further purchases are finalized.
3. What to do around Tuscaloosa for Sept. 3-9 (tuscaloosanews.com) — Northport residents have several options for getting out this week, including the free, family-friendly Kentuck Art Night on Thursday at the Kentuck Art Center downtown. The broader West Alabama calendar also features Alabama's football home opener, the Tuscaloosa farmers market, WWE Raw in Birmingham, and a long list of concerts and theater events running into October.
4. Alabama Rising Stars Games: TrackMan Files (prepbaseballreport.com) — Young baseball prospects from across Alabama recently converged on River Run Park in Northport for the inaugural Alabama Rising Stars Games, giving local families a close look at the state's next wave of talent. Coaches used TrackMan technology to measure pitching movement, spin rates, and exit velocity, turning the Northport workout into a detailed evaluation session for players in the 2031–2032 classes.
