Northport Leaders Reject Data Center Moratorium, Consider New Zoning Approach (abc3340.com) — Northport's City Council has rejected a full moratorium on data centers and instead plans to craft a special zoning district to control where they can locate. Leaders also moved forward on plans for a new City Hall and agreed to explore hosting a spring music festival in Northport, signaling potential changes for development, services, and entertainment options in town.
   

2. Tuscaloosa fall festivals return with these top events (tuscaloosanews.com) — Several major fall events are lining up around Tuscaloosa, including the Kentuck Festival of the Arts, which began in downtown Northport and long operated in Northport's Kentuck Park before moving to Tuscaloosa's Snow Hinton Park. Proceeds still support the Kentuck Art Center's year-round programming at its downtown Northport campus and other local sites, keeping a strong cultural and economic link to Northport even as the festival's location has shifted.
   

3. Lydia Loveless to Release ACCOLADES EP, Tour Fall 2026 (broadwayworld.com) — Indie singer-songwriter Lydia Loveless is bringing their fall tour to Northport's Kentuck Arts Center on October 18, giving local fans a chance to hear new songs live before the Accolades EP drops on October 30. The record, produced in Memphis with seasoned session players, blends '90s alt-rock, Americana touches, and introspective lyrics about modern life, relationships, and the music business.
   

4. Tuscaloosa parks leader Brian Davis to retire in 2027 (miamiherald.com) — Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority CEO Brian Davis plans to retire on Feb. 1, 2027, after nearly three years leading the agency that helps serve Northport residents. PARA, funded in part by the city of Northport, manages parks, activity centers, trails, pools, and major events like the West Alabama Christmas Parade, so his departure will shape future recreation services across the area.
