Convicted Sex Offender Sought By Sheriff's Office

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is trying to locate a convicted sex offender who failed to notify authorities of his residence.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is trying to locate a convicted sex offender from Alabaster who they found was no longer living at the address at which he was registered. Cory James Spangler, 30, was convicted in 2012 of second degree rape of four victims under the age of 16.

The Alabaster Police Department arrested Spangler on the rape charges in June 2011 and charged him with raping three 15-year-old girls and a 14-year-old girl. At the time of the rape arrests, police said Spangler provided the underage girls with illegal narcotics before enticing them into sex.

Spangler was arrested last year for failing to provide the Sheriff’s Office with an updated address when he moved in October 2016. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)
