Free Day For Shelby County Landfill Oct. 7

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - Shelby County will host a Free Landfill Day at the Shelby County Highway 70 Landfill located at 401 Landfill Road just off Highway 70 between Columbiana and Calera on Saturday, October 7th, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm.

According to a release from Shelby County, the free day is not intended for commercial waste disposal and items such as hazardous waste, automobile batteries, vehicle tires or liquid wastes will not be accepted. All municipal initiatives or projects on these dates that involve contract haulers will be allowed to participate as long as prior approval is obtained through Shelby County Environmental Services and each applicable waste transport vehicle displays the county assigned access placard.

The county offers two free days per year, as set by the County Commission.
