John Carroll Teacher Arrested By Pelham Police For Having Sex With Student

PELHAM, AL - A Pelham man who had been a teacher at John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham was arrested by Pelham police after information surfaced that he had a sexual re;lationship woth a student at that school. Charles Edward Dudley, 30, faces one charge of sexual intercourse with a student younger than 19 years old.

According to a statement by the Pelham Police Department, "At the time of the alleged crime Dudley was employed by an area private school and the alleged victim was a student there." A representative of John Carroll Catholic High School said that Dudley is no longer an employee at the Birmingham-area private institution.

A report from Alabama Media Group said that after a concerned parent complained to the school about Dudley and the student, the school launched its own investigation via a private investigator, and discovered the allegations to be true, and notified law enforcement. A statement from John Carroll said, "Recently, we were made aware of an unfortunate incident regarding John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham, Alabama, involving one of our former students and a teacher. Once notified by a concerned parent of a possible student-teacher relationship while the student attended our school, we contacted our legal counsel who in turn hired a private investigator to investigate the allegations."

The case is still being investigated by the Pelham Police Department.
