Pelham City Schools Closed Tuesday Amidst Winter Weather Watch
The threat of a winter storm and hazardous road conditions Tuesday have prompted the Pelham school system to close Tuesday.
PELHAM, AL - The threat of a winter storm and subsequent hazardous road conditions Tuesday has prompted Pelham school officials to close schools Tuesday, with an announcement pending regarding the remainder of the week.
"We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions and provide updates for 1/17 as necessary," school officials posted on social media. Residents are asked to consult the Pelham City Schools website for more information as it becomes available.
A Winter Storm Watch was issued by the National Weather Service Monday morning, effective at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, and as conditions continued to favor winter weather, several school systems in the Birmingham metro area announced they would close.
