A new drone was debuted Monday night by the Pelham Police Department, the second on the department's fleet.

PELHAM, AL - The Pelham Police Department officially debuted its new drone, AirView2, Monday evening to city leaders. It is the second drone in the department's fleet, and was fully funded by a $4,000 donation given by the Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge.
A statement by the PPD say AirView2 is equipped with a newly-released 4K low-light and thermal imaging camera. It will be used day and night for search and rescue operations, suspect apprehension, crime scene and traffic crash investigation, among other things.
"Thank you to the Elks for their generous donation and continued support of the Pelham Police Department," said Chief Larry Palmer. "I can't say enough good things about the people who worked to make this possible for us. AirView2 is a tremendous addition to the department."
