Pelham School Board Schedules Two Re-zoning Meetings For February

Meetings will be held to discuss proposed changes to zoning plans that will affect K-5 students in the neighborhoods on the CR-35 corridor.

PELHAM, AL - At the school board meeting on January 29, The Pelham Board of Education discussed proposed changes to zoning plans that will affect K-5 students in the neighborhoods on the County Road 35 corridor.

Two meetings will be held in February to discuss the proposed changes and answer questions. The meetings will take place on Thursday, February 8 and Monday, February 12 at 5:30 pm at Pelham Oaks Elementary. The same information will be discussed at both meetings.

The re-zoning is being proposed for a variety of reasons. One, population growth in Pelham has accelerated housing expansion in the city, and Pelham Ridge Elementary School is near capacity. As well, the construction of a new gymnasium and classroom additions at Pelham Oaks Elementary will increase capacity there.
