S.T.O.M.P. Muni Fest Returns to Oak Mountain State Park

For the fifth year in a row, Oak Mountain State Park will host the S.TO.M.P. Muni Fest in October.

PELHAM, AL - For the fifth year in a row, mountain unicyclists will gather at Pelham's Oak Mountain State Park for the Southern Trails of Oak Mountain Park Muni Fest. The event is Oct. 6-8, and has been host to anywhere between 25 to 50 mountain unicyclists in the last five years.

Mountain Unicycling - or muni for short - was a somewhat obscure activity when it began in the 90s, but awareness of the sport has increased in recent years. It involves involves riding a unicycle over the same trails as mountain bikes, from easy gravel paths and dirt roads to technical climbs and steep descents. While in the last decade public awareness of mountain unicycling has grown somewhat, the sport's enthusiasts say it has not increased to the point where the sport is well-understood.

The schedule for the event can be found here.
