A Shelby County man has been charged with another count of sex abuse, on top of charges he received in July.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - A Shelby County man faces additional charges of sexual abuse after a new charge of sex abuse of a child under the age of 12 was filed against him last week. Daniel Lloyd Pennington, 42, was arrested in July on charges of first-degree rape and sex abuse of a child under the age of 12. He was booked into the Shelby County Jail and released the same day after posting $90,000 bond.
A report by Alabama Media Group said Pennington was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Sept. 8 and released the same day after posting $10,000. Pennington also is charged with violation of a domestic violence protection order.
An Oct. 24 preliminary hearing date has been set in the newest sex abuse charge. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)
