Sheriff's Office Partnership Helps Domestic Violence Victims

A partnership with Hope's Door will help the Shelby County Sheriff's Office better serve domestic violence victims.

SHELBY COUNTY, Al The Shelby County Sheriff's Office announced this week a partnership with Hope's Door to give more resources to women fleeing a domestic violence situation.

Hope's Door, a center dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic violence and abuse through education, counseling, and empowering women, constructed "Care Kits" for women unexpectedly leaving their homes.

These kits are at all of the Shelby County Sheriff's offices and substations and can be accessed 24/7 by deputies. The kits contain items ranging from hygiene products to emergency supplies. Domestic violence victims can call Hope's Door after they receive the bag and more resources may be available.

Sheriff John Samaniego stated, "The cycle of domestic violence is hard to break. We hope these added resources help women in need to improve their situation."
