Shooting, Robbery Suspects Identified And Captured

Two suspects are in custody after a man was shot during an attempted robbery in Shelby County.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - Two suspects are in custody after being charged with robbery and attempted murder in Shelby County.

Last Saturday the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person shot at a residence in the 4800 block of Highway 231. Deputies discovered one victim who had been shot and the victim received emergency medical treatment from paramedics and was transported to the hospital.

Sheriff’s investigators interviewed the victim and determined that he had been shot while being robbed by two suspects. Investigators identified the suspects as Steven James Paul Ezekiel, 33, from Moody, and Garfield Frederick Jones, 45, from Pell City.

Ezekiel was arrested Tuesday and Jones was not located and arrested until yesterday. Both are now in the Shelby County Jail charged with Robbery 1st degree and Attempted Murder with total bonds of $30,000 each. The victim continues to recover from his wounds.
