Thompson Remains No. 2, Briarwood 5A No. 1 In ASWA Poll

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Alabama Sports Writers Association football polls this week saw little movement by nearby teams, as Thompson remained just behind top-ranked Hoover in the 7A poll and Briarwood Christian remained atop the 5A poll. Pelham received 8 votes, which left it just shy of the top 10 in the 6A poll.

Thompson routed 7A No. 10 James Clemens 38-7 last week, as the Warriors QB Taulia Tagovailoa, an Alabama commitment, threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Class 7A second-ranked Warriors to a 38-7 win over No. 10-ranked James Clemens in the final game of the AHSAA 2018 Champions Challenge at Montgomery's Cramton Bowl.

Briarwood opens its season this weekend against Chelsea.
