The plan trims most departments by 2%, shifts police overtime, eliminates the animal shelter line, and boosts funding for sewer maintenance and other key public works needs.

โข Selma business owner makes donation to Selma University (waka.com) โ Selma readers will be glad to know longtime local businessman and Selma University alumnus Willie Smiley has donated $12,000 to help current Selma-U students cover tuition, housing, and meals. University president Dr. Stanford Angion says the gift, and Smiley's example of giving back, could inspire more hometown support for business education and entrepreneurship in Selma.
