16-Year-Old Dead After Monday Shooting In Northport
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says a 16-year-old boy is dead after being shot in the chest Monday afternoon in Northport.

NORTHPORT, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting in Northport that left a 16-year-old boy dead.

Captain Marty Sellers told local media just after 3 p.m. that investigators responded to Valley Hills Drive in Northport — just off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard — on a call of a shooting, with one victim reportedly shot in the chest.

He later informed media that the teenager did not survive his injuries and his identity has not been made public at this time.
Northport Police Department Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter told Patch the initial call of the shooting came in around 2:30 p.m. at Valley Hills Apartments, which is part of the Northport Housing Authority.

He said the 16-year-old boy was shot while sitting in a car and was then transported by ambulance to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
At the scene, a large section of the apartment complex was cordoned off, with the investigation focusing on a small two-door car that sustained damage to its windows.
No arrests have been announced in connection to the fatal shooting.
The deadly incident also marks the second shooting in Tuscaloosa County to begin the week, as a man is in stable condition after being shot in Coaling Monday morning.
