2-Vehicle Crash, Fire Closes Hwy 171 Near Fayette County Line
Motorists traveling Highway 171 are asked to use alternate routes as the scene is still being processed by state troopers.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is currently on the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Alabama Highway 171 near the Fayette County line.
According to one crash report submitted to the Alabama Department of Transportation a little after 6 a.m. Monday, the crash involved a vehicle fire near the 20 mile marker at Old Moores Bridge Road in Echola. It is unclear if the crash resulted in any injuries.
ALEA Public Information Officer Senior Trooper Reginal King said both lanes completely blocked and will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.

King then said the Alabama Department of Transportation has been notified and will assist with traffic control.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area by utilizing alternate routes.
