40 Local High School Students Chosen For Inaugural Class Of 'Leaders To Legends'
Leaders to Legends is a collaboration between the Chamber and the University of Alabama, set to launch on Sept. 11.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama on Thursday announced that 40 high school juniors from Tuscaloosa city and county schools have been chosen for the inaugural class of a new program aimed at preparing students to become leaders in their schools and communities.

The reimagined version of the Forerunners program will feature six monthly, hands-on sessions during the 2025-26 school year where students will have the chance to explore Tuscaloosa’s economic, social, historical and political landscape.
This will be made possible through sessions hosted at UA, Shelton State Community College, the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education and the Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy.

Students will also work with community mentors, participate in character-building activities and take part in service projects.
