5 Things: Tuscaloosa Storylines We're Watching This Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The holidays are officially over and 2021 is underway, promising to be another year full of interesting storylines. Here's a look at some of the biggest ones we will be keeping an eye on this week.

1. The Northport City Council will have its regular meeting on Monday. Click here to view the agenda. The city will also hold a public meeting Wednesday to hear input from the community as a feasibility study is conducted for a proposed water park.
2. The Heisman Trophy will be presented during a virtual ceremony Tuesday at 6 p.m. local time on ESPN. The Alabama Crimson Tide has two finalists among the four candidates for college football's highest honor — receiver DeVonta Smith and quarterback Mac Jones.

5. DCH Health System reported 167 inpatient coronavirus cases Sunday as hospitalization numbers appear to be on the rise again following the holidays and a slight decline over the last week or so. Tuscaloosa County is soon expected to top 20,000 coronavirus cases — factoring in confirmed and probable cases.
