ACA's Charles Tiller Named Shelton State Cross Country Coach
American Christian Academy cross country coach Charles Tiller has been hired as the college's new cross country head coach.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College Athletics on Friday announced that American Christian Academy cross country coach Charles Tiller has been hired as the college’s new cross country head coach.

Tillers boasts over 20 years of experience in coaching, previously serving a highly successful stretch at ACA where he most recently led the Patriots to the 5A state title in 2022. Prior to that, his team had finished second in the state for three consecutive seasons.

“Charles Tiller is a championship-winning leader with experience coaching the state’s premier high school runners,” SSCC Athletics Director Cara Crosslin said. “He has made great connections with runners across Alabama, and we believe he will help our team compete at a higher level.”
Tiller will enter the college ranks as the seventh-winningest coach in Alabama high school history, with more than 30 team state championships and more than 120 individual and relay state champions.

A five-time Alabama Coach of the Year award winner, Tiller holds advanced certifications from USA Track & Field and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
"I am so fortunate to be a part of Shelton State athletics,” Tiller said in a statement. "I look forward to helping build the cross country program to the same level of excellence as the other sports at Shelton State."
