ACT Opens Auditions For 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical'

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Actors Charitable Theatre (ACT) announced this week that auditions will be held Sunday and Monday for its upcoming production of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical."

ACT says it is looking for students ages 6-18 and adults 18 and over for principle, featured, and ensemble roles.

Directed by Mary Kate Kondra, audition dates: are set for Sunday, Oct. 15, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., with movement call beginning at 4 p.m., followed by individual vocal auditions.

The second day of auditions will be on Monday, Oct. 16, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., while following the same format as auditions on Sunday.

Here's a synopsis of the production provided by ACT:

"The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world–so when they crash Sunday school and demand parts in the Christmas pageant, the whole town panics. There’s not supposed to be biting or cigar-smoking in Bethlehem, and while these kids have never even heard the Christmas story, they definitely have rewrites! Soon, everyone is calling for reluctant director Grace Bradley to cancel the whole thing. It’s up to the Bradleys and the Reverend to help their community see the Christmas story and the Herdman kids through new eyes in this buoyant musical adaptation of the funny and touching holiday classic."

Rehearsals for the production will begin on Oct. 23 and will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m., with an occasional Saturday afternoon rehearsal.

Performances will be at the ACT Studio, located at 3801 Alabama NE Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404, in the old Holt High School.

• Friday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:00 p.m.
