Active Search Underway At Tuscaloosa Apartments After Car Chase
Tuscaloosa Police say officers are currently searching the apartment complex after a high-speed chase on Friday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — An active search is underway near the University of Alabama campus after the Tuscaloosa Police Department says a high-speed chase turned into a foot pursuit.
TPD says a patrol officer attempted to stop the driver of a green Honda Accord for running multiple stop signs and speeding while traveling north on 10th Avenue at 1:12 p.m. Friday. The driver then continued west on 19th Street before abandoning the car at the dead end on 11th Avenue.

TPD then said the driver's speeds reached approximately 90 miles per hour while in the area of 10th Avenue and Hargrove Road.
After abandoning the Honda, the suspect ran toward Crimson Student Living, where officers are currently searching units with assistance from the TPD helicopter pilots.

Investigators said the situation remains ongoing.
