TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Central Board of Control has announced new winter and spring sports alignments for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years.

The board’s unanimous vote came during a virtual meeting Friday that finalized alignments for winter sports, including basketball, bowling, indoor track and wrestling, and spring sports such as baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, golf and outdoor track and field.

Fall sports alignments had already been approved earlier this year, as Patch previously reported.

“As always, it was a difficult job,” AHSAA Executive Director Heath Harmon said in a statement following the meeting. “I want to thank the Central Board and AHSAA staff for their dedicated effort and input. Everyone worked together to find the best solution as we move forward.”

The alignments are based on school enrollment figures used in the AHSAA’s biennial reclassification process, which determines competitive classes every two years.
