Alabama Defensive Back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. Arrested Over The Weekend

University of Alabama sophomore defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was arrested in Tuscaloosa Saturday on several charges.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — University of Alabama sophomore defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was arrested by university police on several charges over the weekend.

Tuscaloosa County Jail officials confirmed to Patch on Sunday that the Gadsden native was charged Saturday with three counts of reckless endangerment, attempting to elude and speeding.

He was released after his bond was set at $1,500 and a spokesperson with the UA Department of Athletics told Patch "We are aware of an incident involving Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and are working to gather more details at this time."

Kirkpatrick Jr., a sophomore, is the son of former Alabama All-American and NFL cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick. He has appeared in eight games this season, contributing primarily on special teams and as a reserve in the secondary.

Last season, Kirkpatrick Jr. played in all 13 games, earning recognition from Alabama’s coaching staff as a special teams player of the week for his performance against Vanderbilt.

He recorded nine tackles, including one for a loss, along with a forced fumble and a pass breakup during the 2025 season.

The Gadsden City High School graduate signed with Alabama as part of the Crimson Tide’s 2023 recruiting class.
