Alabama Falls From No. 1 Spot On AP Poll After Close Win At Texas

TUSCALOOSA, AL — There's a new No. 1 on the AP Top 25 poll after Alabama narrowly escaped with a win in a 20-19 nail-biter over the unranked Texas Longhorns (1-1) in Austin on Saturday.

Despite remaining atop the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll with Georgia at No. 2, Alabama fell to the second spot in the latest AP Top 25 rankings released on Sunday.

The defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs opened its season with a 49-3 win over an Oregon team ranked in the top 10.

The Bulldogs followed up that performance with a 33-0 shutout win over Samford, which was good enough to convince the voters to award Georgia the most 1st place votes for Week 2.

No. 2 Alabama (2-0) is set to host Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m.
