Alabama's Will Anderson Jr. Named Finalist For Bednarik Award
Anderson has been named a finalist for the coveted award given each year to the most outstanding defensive player in college football.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama star linebacker Will Anderson Jr. has been named a finalist for the coveted Bednarik Award, given each year to the most outstanding defensive player in college football.

The announcement from the Maxwell Football Club on Tuesday mentioned Anderson, alongside fellow finalists Ivan Pace Jr. of Cincinnati and Tuli Tuipulotu of USC.

If Anderson is able to secure the hardware, he would become the third winner of the award in University of Alabama history after Minkah Fitzpatrick in 2017 and Jonathan Allen in 2016.
In examining his stat line, Anderson leads the SEC with 10 sacks and is tied for sixth nationally.

Anderson has also corralled 51 tackles, while leading the Tide defense with 12 quarterback hurries on its way to a 10-2 record.
The award and others will be presented as part of ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday Dec. 8.
