Alabama's Zane Adams Selected By Orioles In Sixth Round Of 2026 MLB Draft

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama left-handed pitcher Zane Adams is headed to the next level after being selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the sixth round of the 2026 MLB Draft with the No. 171 overall pick Sunday.

According to MLB.com, the assigned slot value for the 171st overall selection is approximately $396,300.

Adams became the latest member of Alabama's College World Series team to hear his name called in this year's draft, joining teammates Justin Lebron (Round 1, 18th overall) and Tyler Fay (Round 6, 169th overall).

The Porter, Texas, native wrapped up an impressive three-year career at Alabama as one of the program's most dependable weekend starters.

During the 2026 season, Adams posted an 8-5 record with a 4.58 ERA while striking out 100 batters, helping lead the Crimson Tide to its first College World Series appearance since 1999.

As a freshman in 2024, he earned Freshman All-SEC honors after going 4-5 with a 5.37 ERA in 16 appearances, including a dominant eight-inning shutout against Arkansas that earned him SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week recognition.

He also followed that campaign by serving as Alabama's weekend starter in 2025, compiling a 7-4 record with a 5.54 ERA across 15 appearances.

Adams finished second on the team in both wins and strikeouts while recording a complete-game victory over Missouri and a career-high 10-strikeout performance against Presbyterian.

He entered the 2026 season as a Preseason All-SEC Second Team selection.

Over three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Adams made 44 starts and established himself as one of the SEC's most durable left-handed starters, striking out more than 200 batters during his collegiate career.
