Alberta School Of Performing Arts To Get New $3.2M Gymnasium

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa City Schools on Thursday announced that a new gymnasium will be built at The Alberta School of Performing Arts.

TCS says the school's current gym was constructed after the 2011 tornado that destroyed the school. Because the school serves so many grades, though, TCS explained that often there are multiple PE classes going on in the small gym space.

The new 8,400-square-foot gym will not be "competition" size, but will have full-size courts, plus bleachers and two restrooms.

The 200-seat venue will cost approximately $3.2 million.

TCS said N.C. Morgan Construction won the bid for the project, with construction slated to begin on Aug. 1.

The new gym is expected to be completed by July 17, 2024.
