Aliceville Man Identified As Victim In Fatal Marengo County Tractor-Trailer Crash

An Aliceville man was killed last week in a fiery crash in Marengo County.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — An Aliceville man was killed last week when the tractor-trailer he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire in Marengo County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said Eric C. Wilder, 55, was fatally injured in the single-vehicle crash, which occurred at approximately 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.

ALEA said Wilder was driving a 2018 International tractor-trailer when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree before catching fire.

Wilder was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, where his identity was later confirmed.

The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 28 near the 27-mile marker, approximately 15 miles west of Demopolis.

No additional information was available as of Tuesday.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
