Aliceville Wins First Boy's Basketball State Title In School History
The win 44-43 win over St. Luke's Episcopal marks the first basketball state championship in school history for Aliceville.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Aliceville High School came out on top in a hard-fought battle, hitting a game-winning free throw Friday to defeat St. Luke’s Episcopal in the AHSAA Class 2A boys basketball championship at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena.

The win marks the first basketball state championship in school history for Aliceville.

After grabbing a rebound and drawing a foul with 3.4 seconds to go in the game, Tyjarian Williams missed his first free throw and made the second to give Aliceville (25-1) a 44-43 victory.
“I’ve been struggling with free throws all year, and I’ve been practicing them (extra)," Williams said following the win.

AHSAA scorekeeping showed The Yellow Jackets out-rebounded the Wildcats 41-28, which ultimately made the difference and included a 20-2 domination in offensive rebounds.
“We’re fighters,” Aliceville coach Christopher Walker said. “As one of our assistants jokes, we’re going to go in and make it a bar fight. We’re not going down easy.”
Jatavius Colvin tallied 18 points for Aliceville and was named tournament MVP, while Tyquan Simon added nine points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
