Visit Tuscaloosa says the new offerings are designed to highlight different aspects of the Druid City, from outdoor recreation along the Black Warrior River to the growing culinary scene downtown.

"Tuscaloosa has so much to offer within and around our downtown, and these new experiences make it easier for visitors to see more of it during their time here," Visit Tuscaloosa President and CEO Kelsey Rush said. "They showcase two different sides of the city, from our outdoor spaces and riverfront to the businesses and local eateries that contribute to the character of our community."

E-Bike Rentals

Electric bicycles are now available for rent outside Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa Downtown at 111 Greensboro Avenue, with the program made possible through grant funding awarded to the Tuscaloosa Sports and Tourism Foundation by the Innovate Alabama Network.

"Hotel Indigo is thrilled to partner with Visit Tuscaloosa to bring this fun new offering to our guests and community," Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa Downtown Director of Sales Taylor Liles said. "We have already received great feedback from visitors and residents who have enjoyed getting out and riding the e-bikes."

Rentals are priced at $15 for the first 90 minutes, with an additional $5 charged for each subsequent 30-minute period.

Riders must be at least 18 years old and can access the bicycles by downloading the Boomerang Fleets app, entering credit card information and unlocking a bike at the Hotel Indigo docking station.

Guided Food Tours

Visit Tuscaloosa says food enthusiasts will also be able to sample dishes from several locally owned restaurants during Tasting Tuscaloosa, a new guided walking tour led by Chef Alison Hudnall.

The approximately three-hour experience features a rotating selection of downtown eateries, with chef-selected dishes served at each stop.

Participating restaurants include Urban Bar & Kitchen, Central Mesa, Rolf's, Alabama Peanut Company and Jalapeños Downtown Cocina + Tequila Bar, among others.

Along with sampling local cuisine, participants will learn about Tuscaloosa's history, architecture and culture as they walk between restaurants.

"Tasting Tuscaloosa brings several of our local restaurants together in one evening and gives guests a chance to learn more about the people behind them," Hudnall said. "Each stop was selected to highlight a different part of Tuscaloosa's food scene while sharing some of the history and character of downtown along the way."

Visit Tuscaloosa said tours are offered weekly on Wednesday or Thursday evenings, although schedules may vary depending on major events, including Alabama home football games.
