Army Band To Perform Free Patriotic Concert In Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa residents will have the chance to celebrate the nation's upcoming semiquincentennial with a free patriotic concert in downtown later this month.

The City of Tuscaloosa announced Friday it is partnering with the 151st Army Band to host a free community concert June 30 at Government Plaza.

The concert is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

City officials said the performance is part of a nationwide celebration marking America's 250th anniversary and attendees can expect an evening of patriotic music celebrating the spirit of American independence in the days leading up to the Fourth of July holiday.

"It’s truly an honor for Tuscaloosa to be chosen as one of the cities to host the 151st Army Band," said Kay Day, executive director of Arts and Entertainment for the City of Tuscaloosa. "We look forward to welcoming them to our City and enjoying an evening of music with our community."

Tuscaloosa is one of six Alabama cities selected to host performances by the military ensemble during its statewide tour.

The band will also perform in Dothan, Daphne, Mobile, Huntsville and Montgomery in the weeks leading up to Independence Day.

Tickets will not be required for attendance.
