Beloved Crimson Tide Broadcaster Eli Gold Reveals Cancer Diagnosis
The longtime radio voice of the Alabama Crimson Tide revealed on Friday that he has been diagnosed with a treatable form of cancer.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Eli Gold, the longtime radio voice of the Alabama Crimson Tide, revealed on Friday that he has been diagnosed with a treatable form of cancer.

The news comes after Gold announced in August that he would be temporarily stepping away from the microphone for health reasons, which resulted in him missing the entire 2022 college football season.

In a statement published on social media by the Crimson Tide Sports Network, Gold thanked those who have offered well wishes and prayers during this time.
"After extensive testing, I have now been diagnosed with a treatable form of cancer," he said. "I’m already making progress and hope to get back behind the mic again soon. Roll Tide!"

Gold has served as the Tide's radio broadcaster since 1988. In his absence, beloved Crimson Tide broadcaster Chris Stewart has served in his place for broadcasts, as well as hosting "Hey Coach!"
