Body Found In Submerged Vehicle In Tuscaloosa After Flooding

Investigators are on the scene of a potential flooding death after a submerged vehicle was discovered in floodwaters Thursday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has confirmed an individual was found dead in a vehicle discovered in receding floodwaters on Thursday.

This comes after a round of severe weather on Tuesday brought heavy rain and caused widespread flooding across the Tuscaloosa metropolitan area.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multi-agency unit, told local media Thursday morning that officers with the unit and the Tuscaloosa Police Department are on the scene of the recovery operations at Main Street NE and Short 19th Street NE

"The vehicle recovery and initial investigation will take several hours before any additional information will be able to be released," he said.
