"I’d like to thank my family, my friends and everyone who worked hard supporting us to help us win this race," Bolton told Patch Tuesday night. "I also want to thank everyone who turned out today and voted for us and trusted me to represent them in Montgomery. I’m very humbled at the level of support we received throughout our communities. I look forward to November’s general election and in the mean time I will be working with Rep. Sullivan on the priorities we’ve set for our district."

There were no Democrats to qualify to appear on the Nov. 8 General Election ballot, which all but secures the victory for Bolton this fall.

If indeed successful in the General Election, Bolton will assume the seat vacated by State Rep. Rodney Sullivan, a Northport Republican, who announced last summer that he would not seek a second term in the legislature.

Sullivan was also among those to give their formal endorsement to Bolton during the lead-up to the primary election.

Bolton won the primary by focusing on working with municipalities and addressing issues across the district — like business and rural broadband.
