Brent Native, Shelton State Runner Earns ACCC Honors

Competing in cross-country, Bibb County native Ariel Turner ran the 5K in 21:38.2.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former Bibb County High School standout and current Shelton State Community College sophomore Ariel Turner was announced on Tuesday as the Alabama Community College Conference's Women's Runner of the Week.

The honor came after her performance in the ASICS XC Invitational in Fairburn, Georgia

Competing in cross-country, Turner ran the 5K in 21:38.2.

The ACCC pointed out that this season is Turner's first running cross-country, after competing in 400/800 during her time at Bibb County High School.

The conference also said Turner had not run in over a year before she started with the Buccaneers a few months ago but has progressed this season from a 5K time of 24:35 to 21:38.
