“The West Alabama Food Bank serves as a cornerstone of service for our community. We are honored to support their mission and their goals of serving even more individuals with the move to this new facility,” Bryant Bank President Claude Edwards said. “It is our hope that the food bank is able to expand their services and that other corporate sponsors will heed the call to invest in a cause that effects all corners of our community.”

As Patch previously reported, the West Alabama Food Bank moved from its former location in Northport to the 65th Avenue location previously occupied by Buffalo Rock, which also still operates at the facility.

The new location has been touted for its storage space that is now used to store fresh produce and frozen foods, along with housing a community demonstration space and teaching kitchen that allows community members to attend classes on preparation and storage of fresh, seasonal foods.

Other amenities include better parking, larger space for offices and production, as well as easier access for trucks and volunteers.
