Bryce Young Reflects On Being A DoorDash Driver In Tuscaloosa

Heisman Trophy winner and Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young spoke this week about a little known fact from his freshman year.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — NFL training camp is underway for the 2023 season and No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young secured some laughs this week when he reflected on working a part-time job to earn extra money his freshman year at Alabama.

Young would go on to secure big money through the changes in name, image and likeness (NIL) and became the fourth Heisman Trophy winner in Alabama football history before earning a massive rookie contract with the Carolina Panthers.

In total, Young's first professional contract is a four-year deal with $37.95 million fully guaranteed.

However, despite being one of the most highly touted recruits in the country coming out of high school, Young spent his freshman year in a backup role to Mac Jones.

"I was driving for DoorDash and honestly I would have a mask on and a hoodie and I would only really accept the 'drop it at my door' orders," Young reflected during a press conference. "So, for the most part, I never really got recognized, but, you know, this was before NIL."

Young and the Panthers will kick off the 2023 NFL preseason at home on Aug. 12 against the New York Jets.
