During a status hearing in Circuit Judge Daniel Pruet's courtroom on Friday, Miles' defense attorney Mary Attorney of Turner Law Group said the jury selection phase for the case would most certainly be longer than his co-defendant's, with the trial also likely to go into a second week.

For the sake of efficiency, both sides also agreed to use a juror questionnaire in a similar way to how it was used during jury selection for Davis' trial.

"I don't expect [the trial] to take any less than a week, and after that, there's no way to tell," Chief Assistant District Attorney Paula Whitley told the media gathered outside the courtroom Friday.

Whitley also said Turner has until Aug. 15 to consider an unspecified plea agreement for her client ahead of trial.
