Veterans Memorial Park Celebration

Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority and the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center hosted the city's annual Veterans Day Program in Veterans Memorial Park on McFarland Boulevard Thursday. Sergeant Major Michael A. Grinston (right) was the featured speaker for the program.

UA Online Legendary Service Award

University of Alabama

The University of Alabama Online has named U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Laura McDonald as the recipient of the first UA Online Legendary Service Award.

The award honors a past or present military service member who has demonstrated legendary service to their country and community.


The Lieutenant General Willie J. Williams Institute

Stillman College’s Veterans Resource Center has launched the Lieutenant General Willie J. Williams Institute for Leadership, Education Equity, and Race Relations in America.

The Williams Institute aims to provide Stillman College and the community access to scholarly research, interdisciplinary study, discourse and debate, and advocacy on issues related to leadership, education equity, and race relations in America.


Tuscaloosa County honors those killed in Kabul attack

Tuscaloosa County officials honored the lives of the U.S. military service members killed in an August attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, as part of Veterans Day observances on Wednesday.
